TagWipe: AI Tag Remover
Privacy Policy
TagWipe: AI Tag Remover ("AI Metadata Cleaner," "the App") is developed by Didactic Initiatives LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains what data the App accesses, how it's processed, and what — if anything — leaves your device.
The short version
The App scans and cleans your photos entirely on your device. Your photos, their metadata, and their contents are never uploaded to us or to any server we control. We use two third-party services — Google Firebase Analytics and Google AdMob — for anonymous usage analytics and ads, both of which you can review or turn off below.
Photo Library access
The App requests permission to access your Photos library so it can:
- Read image files to detect AI-generation provenance metadata (C2PA/Content Credentials, XMP, PNG text chunks, EXIF/TIFF fields) and GPS location tags.
- Write cleaned copies back to your library, or replace the original, when you choose to clean a photo.
All of this happens locally using Apple's ImageIO and Photos frameworks. Photo bytes and metadata are read into memory on your device to be scanned and cleaned, and are not transmitted anywhere. We have no server that stores or receives your photos.
Data stored on your device
The App stores the following locally, using standard iOS local storage (AsyncStorage) — never synced to us or any third party:
- Scan results cache: which photos were scanned, what was found, keyed by photo ID and last-modified time, so relaunching the App doesn't have to rescan unchanged photos.
- Settings: your remove-location preference, clean mode (save a copy vs. replace original), and the analytics toggle described below.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active Pro subscription, kept in sync with the App Store.
Analytics
The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand feature usage (e.g. that a scan or clean completed, that a rewarded ad was shown, that a Pro purchase completed) — not the content of your photos or metadata. No advertising identifier (IDFA) is collected; the App is built with Firebase's withoutAdIdSupport option.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage analytics" (on by default).
Advertising
Non-Pro users may be shown a rewarded ad (via Google AdMob) before cleaning photos, in exchange for removing the ad requirement. Ads are always requested as non-personalized only — the App does not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission and does not track you across apps or websites for advertising purposes. If no ad can be served (e.g. you're offline), cleaning proceeds without one.
AdMob may still process some non-personalized data (e.g. approximate location derived from IP, device type) as part of serving an ad, under Google's own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
In-app purchases
The App offers an optional Pro subscription, processed entirely through Apple's App Store / StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment information — Apple handles billing directly, per Apple's privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy
Shortcuts / App Intents
If you set up the "Clean AI Metadata" Shortcut, it runs the same on-device cleaning logic described above. Nothing about Shortcuts usage is transmitted off your device.
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share your photos or their metadata with anyone. The only data that leaves your device is:
- Anonymous, aggregated usage events sent to Google Firebase Analytics (if you leave the toggle on).
- Ad-serving requests sent to Google AdMob when a rewarded ad is shown.
- Purchase/subscription transactions handled by Apple.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
