Screenshot Bin

Privacy Policy

Didactic Initiatives LLC ("we," "us," or "our") develops Screenshot Bin, including its widget (the "App"). This policy explains what information the App uses, where it is processed, who receives it, how long it is kept, and your choices.

The short version

The App reads the screenshots in your Photos library and processes them on your iPhone. We do not receive your screenshots, the text inside them, or the descriptions the App makes. The App has no account, no advertising SDK, and no server that we operate. It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

The App sends anonymous usage data to Google Analytics for Firebase. It never includes your screenshots or anything in them. You can turn it off in Settings → Usage analytics (section 9).

The App connects only to Apple services (iCloud Photos, to download a screenshot that is not on the device, and the App Store, for purchases) and, unless you turn it off, to Google Analytics for Firebase. We receive information only if you contact us for support, or if you allow Apple to share diagnostics with developers.

1. Photos access

The App asks for access to your Photos library. It reads only the items that iOS marks as screenshots. With limited access, the App can read only the photos that you selected for it. The App asks for read and write access because it must have write access to delete a screenshot when you confirm a deletion.

You can change or remove access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos. Without access, the App cannot add or process screenshots.

2. Processing on your device

To sort, search, describe, and redact your screenshots, the App uses Apple frameworks that run on your iPhone:

Screenshots can contain private information about you and about other people, such as messages, account numbers, or health details. The screenshots, their recognized text, image labels, search text, and redaction results are processed on your iPhone and never leave it. They are not sent to us or to analytics.

3. Information stored on your device

The App stores these records in its local storage on your iPhone:

The App shares only a count of screenshots due to expire, and whether the widget is unlocked, with its widget through local app storage. Your original screenshots stay in your Photos library. The App does not copy them to another location.

4. iCloud Photos

If you use iCloud Photos with "Optimize iPhone Storage," a screenshot may not be fully on your device. The App can then ask Photos to download it from iCloud so the App can process it. Apple handles that download under your iCloud settings and Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive the download.

5. Deleting screenshots

The App deletes photos only after you tap Delete and confirm in the iOS dialog. Deleted photos go to the Recently Deleted album in Photos, where iOS keeps them for a limited period, usually 30 days. If you use iCloud Photos, the deletion also applies to your other devices that use the same Apple Account.

When a screenshot is deleted, in the App or in the Photos app, the App removes its local record and the text and description stored with it.

6. Reminders and background updates

Reminders are local iOS notifications that the App schedules on your device. We do not operate a push notification server. iOS can also run the App in the background to update expiry status, reminders, and the widget count. This work stays on your device.

7. Sharing and Share Safely

When you use Share or Share Safely, iOS sends the image you selected to the app, contact, or service you choose. That recipient's privacy policy then applies. Share Safely makes a separate redacted copy and does not change the original. Detection can miss private information, so check the full preview before you share it.

8. Purchases and Apple diagnostics

Apple processes the 14-day free trial, a $0 in-app purchase that you start with a tap, and the full unlock purchase. The App receives verified purchase information from Apple to start the trial, turn on paid features, and restore your purchase. We do not receive your name, Apple Account, or payment card details.

Apple gives us aggregated App Store reports, such as downloads and sales by country. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple also gives us crash reports and app usage information that Apple collects. Apple controls that collection under Apple's Privacy Policy, and you can turn it off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

9. Usage analytics

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase, with Google as our service provider, to learn which features are used and whether they work. It sends anonymous usage data:

This data is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking or advertising. The App does not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA) or the identifier for vendor (IDFV). It turns off Google Signals and ad personalization, and it does not share this data with other Google products for advertising. App Store Connect and Apple's purchase system remain the record of purchases.

Usage analytics is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Usage analytics. Turning it off stops collection and resets the analytics data stored on your device. In App Store storefronts in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, it is off until you turn it on. Google Analytics keeps event data for 14 months. See Google's Privacy Policy.

10. Support and this website

If you email us or use our support form, we receive your email address, your message, and any other information or files that you choose to send. We use them to answer you, investigate the problem, and handle privacy requests. Do not send screenshots that contain private information unless they are necessary for your request.

Our support form uses Google Forms, and responses are stored in Google Sheets. Google processes them under Google's Privacy Policy.

Our website host processes normal request information, such as IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time, to deliver and protect this site. These legal pages do not load analytics, advertising scripts, or external fonts.

Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we process support messages to take steps you request and for our legitimate interest in answering and improving the App. We process website request data for our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.

11. Sharing, purposes, and safeguards

We use the information we receive only to provide support, improve the App's reliability, protect our services, and meet legal obligations. Recipients are Apple for its services, Google for usage analytics and the support form, and the providers we use to host this site and handle email. We may disclose information we hold when the law requires it, to protect legal rights, or as part of a business transfer that keeps the protections in this policy.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use reasonable safeguards for the information we hold, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Apple, Google, and our service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States, under their applicable transfer safeguards.

12. Retention and deletion

We do not have a copy of your screenshots or local records, so we cannot retrieve or erase them for you.

13. Your choices and rights

You can change Photos access and notifications in iOS Settings, turn reminders off in the App, turn usage analytics off in Settings → Usage analytics, and delete the App's data by deleting the App.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold about you. You may also have the right to restrict or object to its processing. Email hello@dinitiate.com to make a request. We may need to verify your request, and we will respond as applicable law requires. We do not discriminate against you for using these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

14. Children's privacy

The App does not send personal information to us from anyone, including children. Usage analytics is anonymous and does not identify any user. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through support. If you think a child sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Changes to this policy

We will publish changes at this URL and update the effective date above. For material changes, we will give any notice and get any consent that applicable law requires.
