GeoSwitch · Custom Location for Safari

Privacy Policy

Didactic Initiatives LLC ("we," "us," or "our") develops GeoSwitch, including its companion app and Safari extension (the "App"). This policy explains the information the App processes, the services that receive it, retention, and your choices. It updates our June 2026 privacy policy.

The short version

Your selected coordinates, saved locations, and preferences are stored on your device; we do not receive them on a GeoSwitch server. The extension supplies your selected location to websites when you use it. Apple processes map, search, directions, and purchase requests. We use Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) for usage and reliability analytics. We do not sell personal data, use advertising SDKs, or use analytics to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Location switching does not make you anonymous. Websites can still infer your location from your IP address or account information. If the extension is off or does not work on a page, Safari may provide your real location if you have allowed that website to access it.

1. Location information and local storage

The App processes the coordinates you enter or select on the map, saved-location names, preferences, and route-simulation settings to provide location switching. This information is stored locally and shared between the companion app and extension as needed for those features. It is not uploaded to us or included in our custom analytics events.

GeoSwitch does not change your system GPS and does not upload your actual GPS location to us. A coordinate you choose could still describe your home, workplace, or another sensitive place, so treat your saved locations accordingly.

Local data remains until you delete it or remove the App. Your device's backup or transfer settings may include app data in a backup managed by Apple or by you; we do not have access to those backups.

2. Safari extension permissions and websites

The extension needs access to the Safari websites on which you want it to replace geolocation responses. Safari controls that access. The extension operates within permitted pages and does not send browsing history, page URLs, page contents, passwords, or saved-location names to us or Google Analytics.

When a permitted website requests location and switching works, the extension returns the chosen coordinate or simulated route position to that page. That website may store or transmit the result under its own policy. Website location permission and Safari extension access are separate settings. Only grant access to sites where you want to use GeoSwitch, and review each site's privacy policy.

The extension also queues limited usage and success or failure events on the device. The companion app sends those events to Firebase when it becomes active and analytics is enabled. Those events describe the feature and outcome, not the website or coordinate involved.

3. Apple Maps, address search, and directions

Maps, address autocomplete, address searches, and road-route requests use Apple's MapKit services. Those services receive requests needed to show the map or find a place or route, which can include search text, map regions, and selected route endpoints. These requests go to Apple, rather than a GeoSwitch-operated location server. Apple's handling of them is explained in Apple Maps & Privacy.

4. Usage and reliability analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) to understand feature usage, purchases, and reliability so we can improve GeoSwitch. Information sent can include:

We do not send selected coordinates, address-search text, saved-location names, page URLs, page contents, or free-form error descriptions in our custom analytics events. We do not connect these analytics to a GeoSwitch account or a person's name. However, installation and device identifiers can distinguish repeat use, so analytics should not be understood as completely anonymous. See Google's Firebase data collection explanation and Google's Privacy Policy.

To request an analytics opt-out or deletion of analytics data, email hello@dinitiate.com. We will help you with the available options and explain any information needed to handle your request. Disabling Safari extension access stops extension activity on those sites, but does not disable companion-app analytics. Removing the App stops future app collection on that device; it does not automatically delete events already sent to Google.

5. In-app purchases

Apple handles App Store purchases and subscriptions. The App receives purchase and entitlement information to unlock Premium and restore purchases. We do not receive your credit-card details or other payment credentials. Purchase-related analytics are described above. Apple's handling of billing and account data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Support communications and this website

If you contact us, we receive the email address, message, and any attachments or other information you choose to provide. We use them to reply, investigate your issue, and handle privacy requests. Avoid sending sensitive coordinates or browsing details unless they are necessary for your request. Our contact form uses Google Forms, which processes submissions under Google's policy.

Our website host processes normal request information, such as IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time, to deliver and protect the site. These legal pages do not load analytics, advertising scripts, or external fonts.

The Safari location test page requests a location only after you start the check. The result is processed in the browser and exchanged locally with the GeoSwitch extension; the page does not send the coordinate to our website host or analytics. If GeoSwitch is not working, the result could be your real location. The host still receives normal requests to load the test page.

7. Sharing, purposes, and safeguards

We use information only to provide the features you request, measure and improve product reliability, manage purchases, respond to support, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Recipients are Apple for its services, Google for Firebase analytics and optional support forms, the providers needed to host our site and handle support, and websites you choose to give location information to.

We require service providers processing information on our behalf to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable requirements and to use it only for the agreed purposes. Independently operated websites and Apple services also have their own privacy terms. We may disclose information we actually hold when legally required or necessary to protect legal rights, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable privacy protections. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No device or service can guarantee absolute security. Apple, Google, and our service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States, subject to their applicable contractual and legal transfer safeguards.

8. Retention and deletion

We do not hold a server-side copy of your saved locations, so we cannot retrieve or erase those for you. Because we do not associate analytics with your name or email, we may need information sufficient to identify the relevant installation before we can act on a specific analytics deletion request. We will explain any limits and use available deletion mechanisms where the data can be identified.

9. Your permissions and privacy rights

You can turn GeoSwitch off in the App or extension popup and revoke its website access in Safari's extension settings. To control real-location access, use Safari website location permissions and your device's Location Services settings. Changing one permission does not automatically change the others.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to its processing, or withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the legal basis. You can make a request through hello@dinitiate.com. We may need to verify the request and will respond as required by applicable law. We do not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights. You may also contact your local data protection authority.

10. Children's privacy

GeoSwitch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

11. Changes to this policy

We will publish changes at this URL and update the effective date above. For material changes, we will provide any notice and obtain any additional consent required by applicable law. This policy describes data handling; it does not waive your privacy rights or grant a blanket permission to collect data.
