Privacy Policy
Didactic Initiatives LLC makes VidTools. This policy states what VidTools does with your data. Read the summary first. Read the full sections for detail.
Summary
- VidTools edits your video on your device. It does not upload your video or your photos to a server.
- VidTools uses Google Firebase Analytics and Google AdMob. These services collect some device and usage data, as this policy states below.
- VidTools does not sell your data.
- VidTools has no account and no login. It stores no personal profile about you.
- Pro is a one-time in-app purchase. Apple handles the payment. VidTools never sees your card details.
What stays on your device
VidTools reads a video from the Photos picker, from the Files app, or from your photo library. It edits the video on your device with Apple's own frameworks. VidTools writes the result back to your photo library, to the Files app, or to the share sheet, at your choice. Your video content never leaves your device through VidTools.
One tool, "Make crops permanent," needs full access to your photo library. It reads the hidden original behind a Photos edit, so it can replace it with a version that has no edit to undo. This tool still keeps your photo and video content on your device. It does not upload it.
Data VidTools collects
VidTools uses two Google services: Firebase Analytics and AdMob. Through them, VidTools collects:

VidTools never collects your name, your email address, your exact location, your contacts, or the content of the videos and photos you edit.
Why VidTools collects it
VidTools shows ads through Google AdMob to stay free. The data above lets AdMob choose an ad and measure whether it worked. Firebase Analytics uses the same data, and the app-performance and diagnostic data, to show us which tools people use and where the app slows down or crashes.
If you buy VidTools Pro, the app removes ads for you. Analytics still runs, because it also tells us which tools to improve.
App Tracking Transparency and your choices
On your first launch, iOS asks whether VidTools may track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, VidTools shows ads that are not based on your activity elsewhere, and no device identifier is used to track you.
You can change this choice at any time in Settings app > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device, or with the Privacy options button inside VidTools' own Settings screen.
You can also turn off ad personalization for your Google Account at adssettings.google.com.
Third parties
VidTools shares the data above with:
- Google (Firebase Analytics and AdMob), and the ad networks AdMob uses to fill an ad slot. Google's own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Apple, which processes the VidTools Pro purchase through the App Store. Apple's privacy policy is at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Didactic Initiatives LLC does not run its own server, and does not otherwise share your data with anyone else.
Data retention and deletion
VidTools keeps no server-side account for you, so there is no VidTools account to delete. To remove the data Google's services hold about your device, use Google's own controls at myactivity.google.com and adssettings.google.com, or turn off tracking as described above. For any other question about your data, contact us with the details below.
Children's privacy
VidTools is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
VidTools sends data only over encrypted HTTPS connections. VidTools uses no other form of custom encryption.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will change the effective date above when we do.
